The Incans knew Amaranth grain as a prized health food, but the flowers have great ornamental value in the sunny garden, too. If this flower could sprout legs, it would run off and join the circus. Fujimoto Sōsuk is a worldwide-known Japanese architect. His childhood explorations of the wooded landscape of the region led to an abiding interest in the natural world. That would influence his later works inspired by organic structures such as the nest, the cave and the forest. Fujimoto’s signature buildings often discuss the relationship between architecture and the natural environment.
